Help with setting up a seamless wireless LAN
« on: May 27, 2015, 08:34:06 AM »

I am trying to figure out how to setup one large wireless LAN in my house.  I currently have a Comcast Biz Gateway (Cisco DPC3939B) which is on one end of my house and I have Ethernet running from one of it's ports to the other side of the house which is connected to the D-Link D-2695 which is in AP mode.  Currently, I have separate SSID's assigned for each access point.  I am trying to figure out if it is possible to have on SSID (per frequency) and be able to roam from one to the other?  Is it as simple as just naming them both the same?

Yes, you can use the same SSID name per each frequency, however you need to keep the channels between the main host router and DAP(s) different. So if you use channel 11 on the main host router on 2.4Ghz, the the DAP would need to be set to channel 1. Keeping the channels as far away as possible. Same goes for 5Ghz.
