We have a new DCS-942L camera and our internet is CenturyLink DSL behind a Technicolor c2000t router/modem.
The automatic configuration process did Not work. We tried following the directions, hooking it up to the LAN, running the install software on the computer, we also tried using the WPS push button to setup, none of these could find the camera.
I was able to locate the ip address of the camera by looking at the routers config settings and when I connected directly to the ip address of the camera I was for the first time able to access the camera in some way. This is the only way I was able to reach the camera. The Mydlink service doesn't work and the iphone app and install wizard do not see the camera let alone configure it properly.
I am not a networking expert. Right now I can access the camera via the ip address but I would really like to know how to properly configure this camera so I can use the enhanced funtionality such as sending email or access via the iphone app.
I would love to get it to send an email clip on motion but despite giving the camera a few different active email sites and credentials, the test email fails.
Info the the Technicolor c2000t router that centurylink provides is available here: http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/modem-c2000t.html
Anyone have ideas on general DSL Router settings that may solve my problems? I am still considering just getting a different camera but if I could get the email sending to work I could live with this camera.
