My DNS-323 is on a LAN controlled by a DI-524 router. The LAN Settings show it as DHCP Client with IP 192.168.0.105 / 255.255.255.0 Firmware 1.10
The DI-524 router is actually connected to the output of a ActionTEC modem / router so as to create two networks. The ActionTEC router connects WiFi clients and my TIVO to the Internet, while the DI-524 router connects all the computers on my wired LAN.. I've adjusted as necessary the IP addresses, so not two devices have the same IP address. It all worked well for multiple years until I tried the disc swap out using the DNS-323. I will mention that I do have a device for connecting either of the HDD in the DNS-323 to a USB port on my computer to check for content if necessary.
DSN1 (there are two HDD in RAID configuration) shows an IP of 192.168.0.1 which is the same as the IP address of the control panel for the DI-524 router.
I can access the DNS-323 web UI by going to 192.168.0.105 Alternatively I can access it by going to this file listed under NETWORK in Windows Explorer.
D-LINK NAS | web_page | goweb.htm

What I can't see are the files that are on the hard drives. I used to be able to see them, but then I made the mistake of substituting another set of drives for a test, and since then have not been able to access the original set of drives, except for one time using can't be reproduced method.
In USERS/GROUPS ... It shows one user, "Donna" associated with the group name "XYZ" In this post I've substituted XYZ for the real group name, but the group name shown by the DNS-323 is the same as the group name shown by the DI-524 router. The Group List also shows as Groups, "User" and "Network" There are no user names associated with those groups. I have been unable to add my name to any of groups. If I try to add a name to a group, it seems to take me back to the "USER AND GROUP CREATION" window and imply that I should end a password. When I seek to use the same password as when I logged into the control panel, it says, "this account does not accepted" . The English grammar is how it is stated.
I see two possible problems.
(a) the IP address of the drives is the same as the IP address of the router 192.168.0.1 or
(b) my name of my computer is not on the list of USERs.
There is another problem of less importance. I've set the DNS-323 to power down after XXX minutes. It no longer powers down automatically. It used to power down, and I'd have to manually power it up when turning on my computer.
Comments / help would be appreciated.
