Syslog flooded with DNSSL messages on DIR890L
« on: December 08, 2015, 08:26:12 AM »

After installing and starting a syslog server, it quickly became flooded with messages about DNSSL:
"DNSSL suffix cgocable.ca received on br0 from fe80::56b8:aff:fe36:ed1e is not advertised by us". The interval is about 5 seconds. I tried to add the suffix to the Local Domain Name field of the Network tab, to no avail. I disabled the syslog option for now. Any clue?
The firmware is v1.08B03. I am based in NA. This is for a home usage. I work in IT Security.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Seems like something in being queried in Canada?  ???

That's an IPv6 address. Set IPv6 to Local Only connection and test again? Can you find if this address is coming from the WAN or LAN side?

Was a factory reset performed before and after updating to v1.08 then set up from scratch?

I went from the least demanding suggestion first. I set the IPv6 param. to Local Connection Only and it did the trick. Problem solved. Annnd I will keep in mind about rigorously follow the procedure for FW upgrade. Thanks a lot again.

Awesome. Maybe at some point you can try v1.09 when you have time.

Enjoy.  ;)
