I've had quite a few problems with this router over the years that weren't really enough for me to replace the unit until now. The first problem I had is similar to problems others have discussed where wired devices would be booted off of the network for no reason - internet would return and die off intermittently until the unit was reset. I could live with this despite it happening on a weekly basis, I would just log into the admin panel and do a soft reset.
Today, just now, I've found my DIR-825 ports have been fried completely, wireless connectivity works perfectly, but all ethernet ports aren't usable, meaning I can't connect to my modem, nor can my wired LAN devices see each other (or the unit). I confirmed this by bypassing the router to confirm the internet would work, then bypass the wired connection on the router by using wifi, which worked flawlessly.
I've reverted back to an older router for the time being: DIR-628 (Firmware Version: 1.00 Hardware Version: A2), I was given this by someone who upgraded to an Apple router, and hasn't had a single problem.
What should I do now? Are Apple routers the way to go? Can I get a replacement from D-Link?
