DS lite workaround anyone?

I want to connect my son's ds lite to the network (rev b model)  I'm using wpa security (yes I know ds lites only compatible with wep)  I need the stronger security of wpa so changing that is not an option.  I assigned the ds an address and put it in the DMZ.  still cant connect.  Is there a way with port forwarding or such that could get it connected.  BTW connects fine without any security enabled (just did that for a second to make sure there wasn't another problem I was fighting) thanks
