I have a 7 year old Dlink Dir-655 router.
I figured it's time to upgrade to something newer.
Brief Background: I'm on DSL, 6mbps down and 0.42mbps up. It's a reliable, but slow connection.
The 8 year old, Dlink dir-655 allows for manual priorities and custom rules, you know, like setting UDP ports 27000-27037 to highest priority. (Those are the ports Steam games use.) The Dlink lets me set the max upload speed my connection supports (0.42 mbps).
No matter what anyone does on another PC, the Dlink has PERFECT QOS, allowing for a maximum spike of 6ms ping in various games. No rubber banding. No lag. Never. Not once. (The gaming PC's are hard wired, most all other pc's and tablets are on wireless N.
Is there a Dlink router today that has the 655's level of QOS? I've tried and returned a few other brands newer routers with QOS. And compared to the dir-655, they were terrible. So maybe I should try dlink, since brand has served me so well for so long.
