DNS 325 Failed, I want to put the drives in a new enclosure
« on: January 08, 2016, 01:46:51 PM »

Hi,

I have a raid 1 configuration (mirroring) and want to find out if i can take the drives out of the old DNS 325 that has failed and put it in another NAS.

If so, any ideas which one will support it.

If not, how do i get the data off the old drives...

Thanks in advance

The only way to be sure that the drives are usable by just plugging them in is to use another NAS box of the same make and model and series with the same firmware level.

From your questions I assume you don't have a recent backup - if you did it would just be a matter of plugging the drives into the new NAS, formatting them as RAID 1 and restoring from the backup.

With no recent backup you should read the 'recovering data' sticky at the beginning of the forum and since you have RAID 1 you only need to use one drive (the other is an exact copy).
