factory reset / start from scratch DNS-320L
« on: March 23, 2016, 04:30:37 AM »

hi all,

Ive been given an DNS-320L by a friend - and want to setup the unit for myself

I was told first things first to connect it to my laptop and do the setup wizard, but when it comes to finding the unit in the wizsard, it never appears - i'#ve reset the unit on the bottom, but this didn't help.

im unsure if im in the right subnet as i dont know the subnet of the DNS-320L

Can anyone help?

Thank you,

1)  Connect the unit to your network
2)  If you are using windows Download Netscan http://www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner and run it (fill in your network range and then click scan)
3)  Copy down the IP address for the NAS as shown by Netscan.
4)  Open your browser and put the IP address in the location bar in the form of http://192.168.0.xxx  This should open the NAS web UI which will allow you to set it up.

You may wish to set the NAS up wit a fixed IP address as this makes it easier to use with multiple computers and/or other devices.

You can but that requires you to set your computer to a fixed IP address in the range of 192.168.0.xxx because of the NAS default IP address.

I assume you connect to the internet using a router.  Is there a spare port on that router that you can connect the NAS to?  If so use that to make life easier for yourself.

BTW the N in NAS stand for Network.
