Runtime error! Playback Streaming
« on: November 06, 2016, 06:59:35 PM »

Hi,

I'm running version 4.1.1 of the console. It connects to the cameras and all that stuff okay.

I want to test the playback features but the console shuts down every time after trying to connect to the built in playback server (which has been started)
Windows 7 (64) pops up a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error Libray window.  It displays the path to the console and message "abnormal program termination"

It does this when trying to connect (pressing the test button) in the play back setup screen. I've tried on both the same pc and another pc on the network. Same result.

What can I do? Can I play back the recordings using other software  like vlc?

Any 3rd party PC security SW running on this PC? Disable it temporarily.
Was the prior version of DVC fully removed before installing v4.1.1?

Does v4.0.5 work?
v4.1.1 hasn't been officially released so there maybe some issues with it.

Hi Furry Nutz,

This is actually a new OS install so there was no old version or antivirus installed. I will try the older version 4.0.5 as you have sugessted.

I've installed version 4.04 (with DP 2.0.13) as I couldn't DL 4.05.

Still no joy with same abnormal program termination. I would really like this to work using remote PB. Any idea?

I can at least do a PB using the "Film Reel" button within the main console.. so it's not completely useless.

Any chance you can test with a different PC? Seems like there is something going on with this PC and DVC. Others are not reporting this issue. You may want to phone contact D-Link support and ask about this as see...

Yes I tried on another pc. Same same.

I've tried running the main console an another pc and it works in the same way. As soon as i try to connect using live streaming or play back the main console crashes with run time error.

Seems there are few questions in this forums about the main console crashing....

I recommend that you phone contact your ISP support office and ask for help and information regarding this. If this unit was provided by the ISP, then it may have there own FW and support features which will need to be addressed directly with the ISP since it's there HW. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

To be honest I'm not a big fan of phoning support as I end up talking to somebody I can't understand  and put on hold for half the day only to be told sorry we can't help you - reinstall windows.

Anyway, I've had some success. I uninstalled the software, cleared the registry and rebooted. Then reinstalled 4.1.1 but install with compatibility mode (XP) and admin rights.  Then I configured all 8 cameras one by one.

Now it is working without the runtime error. I can remote access from another pc!

Now, another config issue if you don't mind.  For some reason I can only display one camera at a time in the live play software (3x3 grid view). I can see all 8 cameras in the tree list of my server. I can display another camera but if I first disconnect the displayed camera and select the next. Click on connect to all only displays 1 camera.

I'm sure this is a simple config issue I can work out.

Edit: I've just read the manual it appears that only 1 camera stream can be displayed at a time using the live stream software.

Glad you finally got it working. Odd that you had to use compatibility mode for the installer to get it working. Wondering if D-Link didn't include any support for newer OSs in this version or something is broke.  ???

Thanks for sharing how you got it working. Will keep this in mind and see if I can get any information to D-Link about it.
