D-viewcam not working over WAN and LAN
« on: February 16, 2016, 07:41:17 PM »

Anyone uses D-viewcam on iPad and has problems? I am unable to see any feed from any cams in my app. It shows the correct number of cams but the circle keeps spinning without anything loading.

My 322L logs show me as logged in successfully and my router logs shows the connections are made and active (i.e. not firewalled). But the traffic monitor on the router shows minimal activity, likely indicating nothing is being streamed.

I am not sure if this is firmware related as I updated the 322L to ver 2.4 a while back and I recall testing D-viewcam then and everything was good.

What version of DVC are you using?
Is this the mobile app or PC app?

I am using D-ViewCam 1.8.0 from the iOS app store. I have tried the app on both iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6+ but both show the same thing i.e. cam names show up and 322L logs show there is a succcessful login but I only see the spinning wheels where the video feed should appear.

Edit:
As I was typing this reply, I tried the apps again on both phone and tablet as well as LAN and WAN but still no joy. FYI, 322L firmware is 2.4.0.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Update:

I have seen some recent posts to suggest the problem I face with D-viewcam is a result of some iOS app incompatibility and not a problem with my DNR-322L. I am currently using ver 1.8.1.2 for D-viewcam but am still unable to see the live feeds on my iPad or iPhone. For the record, I am using FW 2.40 for the DNR-322L.

Update (partial fix):

D-Viewcam Mobile ver 1.8.2 was released on the iOS app store on 25 Apr. I initially downloaded and tried it but the app still showed spinning circles in lieu of my camera streams and I ignored the app until today when I had time to tinker with it.

I realised that I could get a live stream if:

a) I chose a specific camera I wanted the stream from and

b) chose the High Resolution mode (2nd icon from the right on the options bar below, initially shows 'L', tapping on it should change it to 'H')

Wait a bit as the app connects to your NVR/camera. It takes longer than I remember to get the stream up but I am just happy that I can now live view my cams, albeit not all of them at once and it has to be in high res mode (may be an issue in the long run if I keep using my cellular data for this).

I presume that maybe when on cellular data that only one at a time viewing is supported as bandwidth would be an issue if you were trying to view more than one at a time.

I have used D-viewcam in the following scenarios:

- LAN where the cameras are on
- iPad connected to wifi (with a high speed net connection) and connecting remotely to the camera's network
- iPad over celluar 4G/LTE network

Previously I had no problems over all of the above and that is the case now other than the fact I cannot preview all cams at the same time. Also, I believe the bandwidth consumed by 1 cam in 720p resolution is much more than say 3 or even 4 cams, streaming in low res, combined.

Yes, 720p will hog up band width.  ::)

Have you tired setting all cameras to a low resolution to see what happens?
