Remote access 327L
« on: July 15, 2016, 10:49:51 PM »

Dear Experts,

I am not from computer or Network field, I am an Architect so do not understand the terms related to all this. I recently bought a 327L as my Main storage for office works. I have 327L is connected to Network switch along with internet 24x7. Please guide me how can I remotely access my data stored over NAS drive? Someone told me that I need a static IP for this but my internet service provider says he cannot provide static IP since I have a lower value plan. Is there any other way with which i can access the data?
I am aware about cloud services but I don't wanna store all my office data over cloud.
Any pdf guide with all the instruction may also help.
waiting for your valuable inputs.
Thank you.
Amol.

Where do you want to access your DNS-327L from, a local network or the internet?

If you have not already setup your unit read the manual and format the disks (since you are a professional I would recommend that you use RAID 1 for two reasons, 1) it is more reliable and 2) you will still have access to your files even if one disk dies (we have a client that uses two of these on the drawing office network to store their engineering drawings, one is the live working unit and the second is the backup of the first.

Once you have setup the disks you then need to create a user account with a user and password.  This again is in the manual and there is a setup wizard to help you do this.

Get everything up and running on your local network before you even consider trying to access anything from the internet.

Create (free for DLink) Dynamic DNS   www.dlinkddns.com

Add account to your NAS

You can then access via browser or much better FTP (like FileZila)
