I did try email first since I don't have a lot of time to hang around on the phone, and it's true, it did not get me much further.  They ran through the same stuff and then told me to call.  They did not give me any information on the state of the firmware despite me asking.

So I called and the tech guy was pretty good.  We went through the setup again and he filed a ticket.  So we'll see what happens.

Scott

Edited to say that the one thing that was nice about using the email customer service first, was that later the guy on the phone could look up the case number and retrieve all the information I typed in the email conversation.  So if you have a lot of details that's an option.

Update:  for the DCS-2132LB1:

They finally came out with a new firmware version.  I tried version 2.13.03, and it seems to fix the problem.

It seems that maybe they were doing some major work on fixing up the more complex event system found on, I assume, newer cameras.  It's far more complex than on the 933L where you just define the email server and motion detection, instead of defining all these servers, medias, and events, which compete at the same time.

Probably they had the fixes in upgraded firmware for other more popular models, and finally got to this one.

So far, I'm pretty happy with the result.

Thanks,

Scott
