Problem with DCS-2132L - losing video
« on: September 30, 2016, 12:58:14 AM »

Hi,
I've tried to search for similar problems in the forum, but haven't been able to find anything, so here goes:

I'm setting up 5 D-Link DCS-2132L cameras (firmware 2.11) in my business. They are connected to a Synology NAS, Surveillance Station. Each of them install perfectly, and are always close by the WIFI Router used. But the problem comes when I want to place the camera in the right location, I unplug the camera and mount it on a wall or in the ceiling and plug power back in. After this - no video possible. I can still connect just fine to the camera through the browser interface via the ip, so I know it's still connected. Even the installation software still finds the camera.
But no matter if I go to the surveillance station or mydlink.com or directly in the web interface on the camera the result is the same: no video.

Help please. This is driving me crazy.

Thanks,
M

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.21, .22 and so on...  DHCP

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

After powering off the camera, how long is the duration before you plug the camera back in? Maybe wait about 5 minutes to plug them back in, and plug them in one at a time and wait about 2 minutes before checking the MDL service for operation...

Hi,

Hardware: B1
Firmware 2.11
Region: Europe/Denmark

Router: MikroTik RB1100AHx2
Wireless: ASUS RT-AC68U 2.4ghz
distance from router about 20-30 meters

We've set static ips for all camera on the router based on mac address, and we're always able to login via the webinterface by going to http://ip-address-of-each-camera - but there is no video.

We may have been too fast in moving them, so I'll try setting up a new one. Unplugging it. Waiting at least 5 minutes before plugging it back in.

Thanks

I have tried, but still no luck. The video still disappears, but the connection to the camera is ok.

I was also prompted to upgrade to 2.13 fw, so I did that.

The theory right now is that this camera doesn't really work well with the Synology Surveillance Station, as the problems happen after adding the camera to that.
Can it be something regarding the resolution set in the camera and the resolution set in the surveillance station not matching?

Thanks

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try FF or IE11?

Does the camera remain working and video working if you don't connect the camera to your storage unit?

Hi,

I've tried every browser available (well... a lot), and it makes no difference.

Now I've tried something new, I've set up a camera, set up a FTP upload to my synology server. Unplugged the camera, waited 20 minutes, moved the camera to it's new position, plugged it in, and it still seems to work.

So now I'll test this. As I've setup the camera to record based on motion during the night and then FTP the video to the server. Hopefully that will work. If this is succesful, I will try with one of the other cameras and set that up identically.
The biggest problem with this is the only differences are that I'm waiting a lot longer from unplugging to plugging back in after moving it. And setting up the motion detection and recording directly on the camera instead of the Synology Surveillance Station.

Will let you know the outcome of the trials.

Thanks.

Seems odd for sure...possible configuration issue maybe.

Let us know how it goes in your testing.

So far no problems at all. It seems to be the setup with Synology Surveillance Station that was causing the problem.

Will continue to monitor closely.

Thanks for the input.

Hi,

A new problem just occurred - this time a bit more strange. All of our DCS-2132L cameras went offline (when looking at https://dk.mydlink.com/device), but locally they are all still working, and they've been recording correctly to our local server as well. This would indicate a loss of internet connection or something like that... BUT the 2 DCS-932LB1 that we also have are still working correctly. So.... I'm puzzled... any ideas?

Thanks a lot (in advance).

Maybe an issue with the mydlink service.
