How to change the keep alive IP with latest DWR-921 firmware ?
« on: October 14, 2016, 12:24:12 PM »

Hello
first sorry if i'm not good enough in english, i'm from france. tell me if you don't understand something.

I bought a DWR-921 and i'm using it with 4G carriere named "Free"
i have some problems...

first i'm unable to find the default login/password for telnet connection. i'm able to open the connection bug then i'm stuck

second, with the latest firmware (   V3.01 / 2016-07-15 ) i cannot change the "keep alive" destination. by default it is 8.8.8.8... and i have lot of problem with 8.8.8.8

because "free" does not like google, and google does not like free, (peering issues between them) i have almost 80% of lost packets. and so the dwr think i'm disconnected and re-init the connection.
so every 3 minuts i'm disconnected
i found the logs of the dwr (found using informations here https://frankowicz.me/backdoor-i-pare-ciekawostek-w-serii-routerow-d-link-dwr/) and i can see:

Oct 14 20:58:44 login[2312]: 'root' on 'pts/0' auth failed 3 times...
Oct 14 20:58:47 MultiWANChk2: chkDestFunction[933]: usbnet0 Destination 8.8.8.8 is unreachable!

Oct 14 20:58:59 MultiWANChk2: chkDestFunction[933]: usbnet0 Destination 8.8.8.8 is unreachable!

Oct 14 20:58:59 MultiWANChk2: index: 13 not alive. 0,0, retry: 0
Oct 14 20:58:59 commander: WAN 14 disconnected
Oct 14 20:58:59 commander: Delete WAN 14 routing rule, result = 1
Oct 14 20:58:59 commander: stop_multiwan_type: wan_type = 16, index = 0
Oct 14 20:58:59 commander: Stop WANTYPE 3G 0
Oct 14 20:58:59 O3G/script: Stop 3G multiwan! Index_usb=0 Index_3G=0
Oct 14 20:59:00 O3G/SCRIPT: Shutting down QMI link...
Oct 14 20:59:00 udhcpc[428]: Received SIGTERM

As you can see, lot of packets loss mean disconnection
i would like to change this IP from 8.8.8.8 to one in the "free" network i'm sure i'll never have problems.
but i cannot !!

on this firmware, this has been removed !!
as you can find in the latest firmware found here (actually unable to get it..) ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dwr/dwr-921/driver_software/DWR-921_fw_revc_301b06_ALL_multi_20160715.zip
on the release note it's written that the keep alive IP is by default on 8.8.8.8 and the configuration page has been hidden !!

OK GREAT !
so how can i change this ??? where is this hidden page ?
I tried to go to an older firmware, but with older firmware i'm unable to connect with 4G LTE and only 3G

help :(

This model is not sold here in the NA region so we have not experience with this unit. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Finally i found the way to change it

it was just hidden in the web page using "display: none" css.
after changing from 8.8.8.8 to another IP apparently it's better !
i don't see anymore "destination unreachable" in the syslog and the router seems to keep the connection open. i'll test more to check if ok.
