I have a DES-1228P with six DWL-3140AP access points. Using the default public/private community strings. Therefore SNMP is enabled and so is LLDP.
I received a new 1228p switch and 6 3140APoints. After configuring at the shop for a client and letting it run for 2 weeks at the shop with no issues i went to install it at the clients business and the switch crapped out(after spending an hour on the phone with dlink support it was decided that the switch was defective so they sent me another one). After receiving the other one i proceeded to reconfigure the new switch with the exact configurations i had in the previous one(due to all the screen captures i took when i configured the first one)
Now this is the issue i have. For the initial installation we are having issues with the 3140's not staying connected to the 1228P switch. After using the discovery wizard the Smart WLAN Manager can connect and communicate with the switch (showing the names of AP's, the mac and IP addresses and under status you can see them under unknown devices, which shows me that they are detected) after the initial display of access points (once this is done the box to save them comes up), but after you save them the AP's become unavailable. I spent 2 1/2hrs on the phone with Dlink support and they don't know what to do next. I checked the firmware rev. on the switch and also on the Smart WLAN manager and both are correct. I tried changing computers and re-installing the Smart WLAN manager on it and still the exact same issue.
I tried rebooting the switch, the AP's and the workstation more than once and am still having this issue. In other works the Smart WLAN manager can detect the switch and AP's but is unable to save the AP's. The switch however is indeed saved cause you can see it in status under managed switch but the AP's stay in unknown device.
Now i was wondering if it was an issue with the workstation but like i mentionned i tried another computer and still the same issue.(Are there any requirements that are needed on the worstation in order for the Wlan manager to funtion properly ?)
This morning i am going to start again from scratch with a third workstation for a final try i guess. My boss is getting pretty pissed and fed up with this thing since this was supposed to be a simple setup which is turning into a nightmare.
Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
