HI,
i have bought the dwa-140 about a month ago (use it on my laptop that has WinXP/SP2 32bit). I use it with the DIR-635 router .Upon installing the dwa-140 with latest D-Link drivers i noted the connection staying at 270 Mbit/s and not the full 300. Even more so i saw that whenever i actually start using my connection (i.e. downloads, gaming, VoIP and so on) the reported speed drops gradually down to 54 Mbit/s. After googling i found the ralink drivers as a better alternative and tried them. It was rock solid for a month with 300 Mbit/s reported connection all the time and real-life speeds of about 5-6 MB/s (got 100 Mbit/s line).
So a month passed and all of a sudden i notice that my reported connection speeds started fluctuating again and this time even more severe (as low as 1 Mbit/s reported). When i try speed-test sites i don't even get 100 kb/s upload speeds... And for what i know nothing in my setup has changed (settings in my router have also been untouched). My router uses AES with WPA2 and auto 20/40 Mhz signal.
What's weird is that I said ok, then I'll try with latest D-Link drivers - nothing helped - same problem persists. I weent to ralink's site and saw they had jsut released latest drivers (13th of march 2009) so i tried those. Still the problem persists - with ralink as long as i am not utilizing my connection the reported connection speed stands at 300 Mbit/s. As soon as i start downloading or gaming etc. then the reported conn. speed drops down to about 15 Mbit/s (down to even 1 Mbit/s when i run torrents). In reality I am all of a sudden stuck with highly unstable connection which at times doesnt allow me to even open a google page. This is very disturbing as i have always been hapy with my D-Link products and can't beleive there isnt a solution to this. For two days i have tried everything installing and reinstalling old drivers both from ralink and D-Link. Still no result. Anyone care to give his two cents?
All tips will be appreciated...
