DNS-320L loose sharing on reboot
« on: October 15, 2017, 01:41:54 PM »

Hello world.
My NAS D-LINK 320L loose sharing settings on every boot.
I share some folders in both volumes and assigned access rights to the only one user.
When the NAS get power-down (even by web command or by general power failure), on next boot it resets sharing to random (usually "Volume_1" and  one folder that I previous define).
Firmware is 1.04, and I would maintain this version due to Fonz Fun-Plug.

I found that there is a configuration file in /etc/samba/smb.conf.
Is there a way to load a configuration file on boot? (it could be saved in Volume_1 top-most folder, and loaded from there...)
(silly thought: backup battery could be low on energy...?)

Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Am I correct in assuming you are seeing these loss of settings when you open the NAS webUI just after you restart the NAS?

Also is your NAS set up to have a fixed IP address?

Both of the above questions are relevant because the only time my company has seen what you describe in when someone looks at shares on a computer and the NAS gets an IP address via DHCP.  As a test the next time you switch on the NAS go directly to the webUI after the NAS boots and check what is shown in the Account Management page.  If it is wrong do a complete reset of the information - don't forget to wait for the confirmation notification.  Log out and access the NAS from the network for a time.  Power off the unit and unplug it from the mains power then wait for at least 15 minutes and then power it on again and do the same check again.  If it information is incorrect you should then replace the CMOS battery (the 15 minutes wait was to allow the capacitors to discharge and the battery to take over).

Hello.
Thanks for replies.

@Ivan: The NAS has Fixed IP. The problem persist even in a soft reboot (from WebUI).
The NAS was down unplugged for some hours and the problem persist-> no battery issue.

@FurryNutz: Updated to firmware 1.09 and problem disappear; but I lost FunPlug, Telnet, Midnight Commander....

Greetings.

Ok, I believe that some of the add-ons were not supported in recent FW versions. Try adding them if there are newer versions of the add-ons. IF not, then I guess they are not supported any more.
