Where are Windows 7 drivers?
« on: November 20, 2009, 11:19:36 AM »

Windows 7 will be one (1) month old this coming week-end and I still do not find any Windows 7 drivers for most wireless adapters made by D-Link.  If this keeps up, D-Link "should" close!

Where is the info a Windows 7 drivers?

Recently purchased a DPG-1200 and learned that it does not support Windows 7 during installation. Obtained feedback from D-Link that there are no plans to support Windows 7.

Has anyone found a work-around? And why does D-Link not plan on supporting Windows 7? It's by the best OS Microsoft has launched - ever.

Thanks.

Ain't gonna get it.  Their support for product drivers has always lacked.

I like how they have the DWA-160 on their home page and not providing updated driver support!  Their last and possibly final driver was 2.20 dated September 16, 2008!  We now have a final 802.11n spec and they could at least provide a non-draft driver and Windows 7 support, but they probably will not.  I would like a utility that works.  My DWA-652 is SOL on 7 support since I have the original Rev.

If you have the original DWA-160 Rev then you're hosed in 7 since we were hosed with Vista.  That's the reason Rev B came out.   If you have the original Rev then find a local store with the newer Rev and then swap out the old Rev NIC and return it with the old one.  In theory at least.   ;)

The local Best Buys no longer carry this brand in their stores.  Anyone care to chime in why?

Its very sad when the developers of a multimillion dollar conglomerate take advantage of the customers by not offering product support for their own products.  I will never buy another D Link item again.  Nice equipment when it works right but absolutely no support value for customers.

To setup on Windows 7, it just takes a little trial and error.  How I did it..

1.  Load the software, any errors just ignore them at first.

2.  Select the PC on TV Launch Icon and right click to properties.

3.  Select Compatibility select "Run as Administrator" and "Run as Windows Vista Service Pack 2".

4.  When launched you will get a bunch of Windows Explorer errors, just ignore them and it should work fine.

Hope this helps.
