Internet connection issue

my dir-625 connects my laptops to the internet wirelessly but when i use the local wired connection I get "local only" access. I use to be able to connect to internet for fastest connection by just plugging in.  tried it on three different laptops. no settings have been changed. using comcast and vista pc's. what gives?
