Hey ya'll, was just wondering how I could setup ethernet backhaul on my set of C1202s. Have tried multiple things to no avail, was hoping maybe someone had managed to figure out how to work this buggy device. Any suggestions? All thoughts and opinions appreciated!

All that's needed is good quality LAN cable. CAT6 is recommended. Once the B points are wirelessly connected, just connect them to the A point using a LAN cable connection. I believe LAN port #1 on B point should connect to LAN port #2 on the A point. Most of the time you'll need a GB LAN switch. Tried and testing a D-Link DGS-105 and 108 series works with COVR systems. So connect LAN port #2 from the A Point to the switch. Then LAN port #1 from B points to the switch.

Would ethernet backhaul possibly work if I connected both nodes straight to the modem instead? So LAN port #1 on both A and B goes straight to the modem. Or is it a must that LAN port #2 on A goes to LAN port #1 on B? Additionally, do the B points have to be connected wirelessly with a solid white light or can it be flashing? I haven't been able to find any documentation on how to maintain a stable ethernet backhaul, hell I even had to test things out myself to find out a wireless connection must be made before ethernet backhaul could occur.

No, the B points needs to be connected behind the A point.
Solid White means good connection. Blinking I believe means it's trying to connect. Check the user manual to see what the LED indications mean...
Yes wireless connection first, once solid WHITE on B Points, when Ethernet connection can be plugged in. Again, behind the A point.

Well noted. Seems like I will have to change out for a different unit of mesh routers then. Living in a high rise building limits what I can do in running cables around the place, doesn't help that I only got a 2-pack either when my house is full of walls. Thanks for the advice!

Other MESH routers will work in the same manor. I know NG Orbi does. Need the satellites connected behind the main router unit.

Lots of walls and building materials will impact any wifi router system.

You might look into some Power Line adapters to use in between the A and B Point, would help limit cable runs...

I have been looking at the deco line from TP-Link. They've claimed that their deco mesh routers are able to maintain ethernet backhaul even when all of the nodes are connected straight to the modem/router/switch. Bold claim and haven't really seen any one test it out. Thankfully I have a slew of leftover d'link powerlines from a decade ago, will give that a try instead.

Are they 1000Mbps supporting?

Can't confirm, will need to dig them out from whatever hole they are in now. Does it affect how the mesh will react? The main node is running gigabit but I will need to check if the the rest of the ports throughout the place are the same.

Shouldn't just if the speeds are rated at 100Mpbs then speeds will not be great as on 1000Mpbs.

Can live with that for the time being, just trying to not splurge money on unnecessary changes to the router.
