Lots of BT bugs...
« on: September 02, 2009, 05:41:07 PM »

I am on 1.07, and have experienced quite a few bugs on bittorrent. Can someone knowledgeable please comment if I am doing anything wrong or if these are known issues?

1) I have set BT to seed until ratio reached 150%. However, the torrent stops as soon as the download completes! To make matters worse, if I manually re-start the torrent once it stops, the seeding continues for ever - even past my configured seed ratio.

2) When I add a torrent to BT, the torrent does not automatically start - I have to explicitly click on the "Start" button. Is there anyway I can have the torrent start automatically?

3) Lots of issues on Firefox with some JS used on the BT client.. I am using IE for now, but are these known issues? If not, I can give more specifics..

4) If I copy the URL from the browser addressbar after logging into BT, then close the browser and re-open it.. and then paste the URL into the addressbar, I automaticall login to BT without requiring user/pass credentials.

5) Anyway I can set the download directory, rather than using the default "BT" directory?

Thanks!

Hello,

1 - How can you have a 150% ratio ?.... I set it up personnaly to seed until 100% is reached and it works perfectly

2 - Same for me, always click on the arrow to have the BT start

3 - Known issues, also when you had a torrent, yoi have to waith 2-3 secs before closing the window saying the BT was added to have it appear in the list of BT

4 - same for me, maybe due to the cache of Firefox / IE

5 - I think you can't change the default directory

1.- Wired, don't know, i stop seeding manually
2.- It's ment to be this way (I guess, so there is no bug here)
3.- I use FF and it worked fine for me (before the hole BT system crashed)
4.- For how long have you configured the system to 'remeber' your session? If the authentication is through cookies without session-id, then you may be able to access with no authentication needed. Therefor, I set it on 5 minutes.
5.- I don't know if there is, but whatever, this is not a bug.

4.) It's a known security hole. Unfortunately it's still not fixed properly (even in the newest 1.08b5 firmware and BT APKG package).
Everybody can have access to your torrents (adding new tasks, removing your torrents) without authentication (simply use direct link). It has nothing to do with browser cache or session timeout settings.

#2 - This seems to be addressed in the 1.08 Beta.  When I add a torrent is starts automatically for me.  I assume this will be the case when the release version comes out. (hopefully very soon)

Thanks guys.
For #1, setting to 150% is something I do always, rather than 100%. Basically, for every 1MB I download, I want to seed 1.5MB, so my ratio ends up as 150%. A lot of member torrent sites require a minimum of 1:1 ratio, so I try to stay ahead of that requirement by setting the ratio to 150%

#4 is definitely a security hole. I tried clearing the cache, etc.. but still I can login without needing u/p.

The others are minor annoyances that I will live to deal with for now..
