Unable to Save PDF scan

After an upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Reader X, I am no longer able to save a PDF scan.

The toolbar that previously appeared above the scan results is no longer displayed. (Otherwise the scanner is functioning exactly as before; no other configuration changes; this is a software problem.)

What do I need to do to make the network scanner functional again?

DPR-1260, hw A1, fw 1.00
