Today I changed the password of one of the user accounts on the DNS-323. Now when I look at permissions on files that were created by that user in Windows I have "Everyone, Unix User\502 and Unix Group\Users". The "502" is the user "Jamie" before I changed its password. So it looks like by changing the password of a user the user is removed and re-added? Presumably now I'm left with all my files owned by a user that doesn't exist. I've already run in to "Access Denied" issues with a backup script that was trying to set archive permissions - even though I could access and delete the file.
Presumably this would also happen if I removed the user. Shouldn't the NAS have just changed the user password and at least preserve file permissions? How can I make sure the file permissions are correct?
Any thoughts?
