Below is a list of SATA hard drives that the DNS-321 has been successfully tested with.

You are NOT required to use these drives for successful operation. Most other SATA drives will also be compatible.

Disclaimer: Drives that have been tested and approved by D-Link will be flagged with an asterisk (*). Drive models that do NOT have an asterisk (*) by them are currently being used by end users but have not been internally tested or verified by D-Link.

Note: If you are experiencing issues with your hard drives please verify that you are using the latest firmware on your DNS-321.

Attention: The Deskstar 7K1000.B - Model HDT721010SLA360 Hitachi drives are currently having issues when used with the DNS-321, 323 and 343. Follow these steps in order to use these drives with your D-Link NAS product:
Step 1: Log in to the devices Web Configuration
    Step 2: Select Tools
Step 3: Click the Restart button.
This will allow the D-Link NAS to detect and configure your drives.

Note: This must be done each time your D-Link NAS is power on and will be fixed in the next firmware update.

FWIW, I'm using a pair of Samsung 1.5TB drives in my DNS-323 and a pair of Seagate 1.5TB drives in the DNS-323, no problems with either type.  They're all running RAID-1.  I used to have a pair of 500gig WD drives in the DNS-323 running RAID-0, they worked fine as well.
