wbr-2310 firmware version 1.02

Hi there,  I'm a newbie at wireless stuff... please excuse my question...
I have my desktop wired to the dlink router (WBR-2310 H/W Ver A1 F/W Ver 1.02), and it works fine, but tried connecting wireless laptop and it doesn't connect, it recognizes on the lists of networks though. Desktop PC runs win xp and laptop win 7. Any advice please, very much appreciated... thanks for reading.
