Reading release notes for 1.08 firmware, I see that now power loss auto-recovery is now supported with C1 hardware. This is a HUGE feature for me as I was about to make the call between Netgear and D-Link.

So if I would be purchasing a new DNS-323, how can I check HW revision? Is the box different?  Do most stores now carry C1 or is B1 are the one I would most probalby get?

My new DNS-323 arrived yesterday with HW C1 revision and 1.07 firmware installed on it, just upgraded to Beta 1.08b7 and all is well so far.
