Backup using "Standard"

I poked around this forum and came to the conclusion that I do not want to use RAID1 as a backup technology because it is not an appropriate application of RAID1. 

So I set my DNS-323 up with 2 - 1.5 TB HDs using standard.  I now have two volumes showing.  My user scenario is as follows: I put all of my photos on volume one and want to automatically back up volume two on a nightly basis.  What is the best way to accomplish that?

You can use the applications that are built-in to the DNS-323 to do a local backup.

Are you talking about the DriveClone software?  It does not seem to be able to see anything but my C: drive.

Ok I figured this out on my own.  I have my DNS-323 set up in "Standard" mode so I have two volumes.  In the Easy Search utility I started configuration and instead of going into configuration I selcted downloads.  I then set up a recurring backup of Volume 1 to Volume 2.  It appears to work for me.  Hopefully that is a "correct" solution for my scenario.

I have to say that the documentation and the tool are not "in your face" on how to accomplish this type of backup.  I think a little more documentation on how to use each of the types of configurations (standard, RAID 1, JBOD, etc.) would be most excellent!
