access denial with usernames and passwords
« on: February 14, 2012, 06:42:45 AM »

My DNS-321 is connected to a wireless network router, and both drives in the box have been successfully mapped to my computers.  After logging into the NAS, I am able to create usernames and passwords.  However, when I attempt to connect to the DNS-321 from any computer in my home network using these newly created and allegedly valid credentials, I am denied access everytime.  The denial messages vary, but all state that either the username or password is incorrect, or a combination of the two.  I also updated the credentials within Windows, but this did not solve the problem.

The access denial happens only when usernames and passwords have been created, and not when default access rules (i.e. no username or password access required) are employed.

Both of my computers are running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  The firmware on the NAS is 1.03, which I believe, even though over two years old, is the most current version.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Thanks,
Jay

I did see where you can download drivers for Vista 32, Vista 64
http://www.dlink.com/products/default.aspx?pid=DNS-321&tab=3
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/dns321/Drivers/dns321_pnpx_driver_102.zip

Hopefully this helps.
