Control
« on: October 15, 2009, 05:52:54 PM »

I have a question and maybe I missed it in the forum and my search. As of most d-link equipment that I have purchased as well as others, (I am a consultant). I find this unit lacking in the fact I cannot control it via a web browser. I have a unit out by my pool and it would be nice to be able to change music, playlists, skip to the next song, etc. By using a network enabled device on my network. I would like to not have to drag a TV out there just to change what we are listening to. I could use a notebook wirelessly connected to my network on the patio, (I work out there when the weather allows) as well as my wireless enabled PDA. Some kind of control page would be nice. Hell my all-in-one printer even let's me scan without even installing software via a browser connection. Just some kind of control without having to fire up a TV connection would be nice. I have 3 of these and use the others thru the TV monitors.

Well I did not find a edit post so I went this way. SORRY! Also wanted to know if this unit will support the new "Play to" feature in Windows 7?

Have you tried any control point software on your PC? If you are using the Dlink media server software you will see this feature at the bottom. Check the box for your detected DSM-750 and you should be able to goto the media tab and play the detected media files by right click the file and goto play. As for the Wins7 feature in WMP12 I will have to check this out to verify.

Update: Win7 play to command seems to work great on the DSM-750 and DSM-520

Thank you for getting back to me on this. I am not running the media server, just running in extender mode. Also thank you for the Windows 7 play to update.

Extender mode does not have a way to be controlled remotely however in media lounge mode control points software can be used on a PC and in Win7 the "play to" command is super sweet.
