Vista Lockups and BSOD
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:50:23 PM »

I've tried every driver I could find out there and was getting lockups and blue screens of death in windows vista.  I've got the dwa552, dir615, and tried dlink and atheros drivers.  same result with all of them...

I've installed vista from scratch and the first thing i did was install the newest drivers (1.20) and tried the 7.3.1.42 and 7.3.1.35 atheros drivers.

Nothing seems to help... any ideas what i can do since I've just disabled the device and hooked up wired until dlink can figure out what's causing the problem?  I'm more than willing to post specs etc if needed.

Do you get a Code 10 Error ?

What errors do you get?

Synthe, i feel your pain, maybe this will help ...

I've was getting a random (within 10-15 mins) Vista BSOD with a 124 stop error for a few months, after trying everything, i knew it was a driver issue but couldn't figure out which one.

As a last resort i did a format and a clean install of Vista (32bit home premium) and methodically updated each H/W driver until i hit the above BSOD.

It turns out that even with the latest v1.3 vista drivers from the D-LINK website, i'd get the BSOD.

After some searching I'm up and running with the Atheros AR5008 6.0.2.75 drivers at http://www.station-drivers.com/page/atheros.htm (Yes, it says Windows XP, but they install and run just fine under Vista). I tried the the 7.0 series Atheros drivers for this card under Vista and the BSOD came back.

BTW ... I have a DWA-552 and a DIR-655 (v1.10 firmware). Good Luck !
