SHareport can't connect me to my USB hard drive
« on: November 24, 2009, 02:08:12 PM »

Hi

I connected my USB hard drive to my router and installed Shareport utility on both computers at home. It worked fine at first but after some time it get disconnected. I tried to reconnect but it wasn't working. I uninstalled shareport and installed it again and I got back my access to my drive. But once again, after a few time, I get disconnected for whatever reason and when I tried to reconnect, I was unable.

Anyone had the same issue? An a solution of course for that?

Thanks

Hi Samix,

Is the Hard Drive being allowed to power-down? Is it allowed to Shutdown after a period of not being used? Shareport works, but from my understanding, only one computer can be connected to the device at one time, not both.

Is the USB Cable, capable of bi-directional traffic?

A USB cable not capable of bi-directional traffic is, in fact, a broken USB cable...
