Author Topic: Backing up or synchronizing files from network devices to the DNS  (Read 3526 times)

I have PCs, network media tanks on my network and I would like to backup or keep synchronized copies of certain folders on these devices on my DNS-323.  I would like to be able to set this up on the DNS-323 so that it automatically does the back up or synch are pre-scheduled times - i.e. I would prefer not to have to require a PC to be running performing this backup/synch.

Is this possible?  How would I enable it?  And if it is not, what options would you recommend to achieve this?

Thanks

Have you checked out the backup scheduler on the DNS-323? When you are prompted to log in goto application instead up configuration.

I see downloads and configuration.  I checked downloads, there is a scheduling setting for backup.  I want to back up the hard disk on my Network Media Tank which is at 192.168.1.65 - but when I click on test, it says URL is not correct/valid, I tried various types for it with http://, without, etc.  Also, it appears that it will not be incremental backup of network devices but full back ups - I don't need that.

What I've done with my systems here is use Task Scheduler to wake up a system for backups.  That allows me to normally have them powered down, but wake up for the backup.  It also allows me to use more full-featured backup applications.
