The 8088 was the 8 bit version of the 8086, but that was later than the 8080, which was the first really mass-produced 8 bit uP.  The 8008 was an early 8 bit uP, but it didn't get much mileage before the 8080 came out.

My first hard drive (10 megabytes) was in an IBM PC, circa the mid eighties.  It failed after about 6 months of use.  Since then, I've had quite a few that have failed, including 2 Seagate 500 GB drives that failed recently within a month of each other.  They were less than a year old and enclosed in a case with more than adequate cooling.

Anything that you can't afford to lose should be backed up on CDs or DVDs or an off-premise server.  For me the D-Link DNS-323 is my 3rd line of defense against failure.

Let's see, I have the Synology DS209, which is my primary backup.  Then the DNS-323 and the DNS-321 are the second and third levels.  Finally, there are two USB drives and three NDAS drives on the network that also receive periodic backups.

Hopefully, that's enough! :D

Does 1.08 support "preserving timestamp" via FTP?

If so, how do I get it to work?

I am using WSFTP and FileZilla clients and could not upload to DNS323 with preserved timestamp... Files are always saved with current date.. this is a pain for me as I use this box for storing photos and videos wherein DATE/TIME of the files are important.. Likewise, I prefer using FTP to access files; with FTP, i can access this box from anywhere

I'm a little confused here, did you transfer your data off the enclosure before upgrading to 1.08 and now you're looking to transfer it back via FTP on the enclosure now that its been upgraded?
