Can't open Ports
« on: December 20, 2009, 02:03:19 AM »

On my DIR-855 I have opened some ports using Virtual Server, but when testing these ports (http://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html) I found out they are still closed. So I activated DMZ but the ports are still closed. Why can't I open ports on this great router?

The machine you opened the ports for needs a static ip address.
Either assigned via static DHCP in the router menu or manually entered.

Are you using a software firewall on that machine.
This can also block the traffic, so check whether you allowed traffic on these
ports or for the appropriate programs.

Thanks for helping lizzi555!

In fact the machine I want to open ports for is a NAS (eTRAYZ) and I assigned a static IP addres. I did DHCP Reservation in the router and in the NAS software I ticked 'static'. The internal IP is 192.168.0.100, my local IP is 83.65.100.83 (http://checkip.dyndns.org/).

Local I can do everything with my NAS but I can not connect to it from a remote location. To clarify this issue I have added some screenshots.
