Before anyone reads/replies, realize I am not computer-literate, so I will need feedback in easy-to-understand terms.

Ok, so recently my old D-Link that was provided to me by my ISP broke and is beyond repair. So, I bought a new D-Link and tried to install it to work like the old one, but this new D-Link keeps disconnecting me from my network. It also connects me for a split second then disconnects me. This happens at random intervals and I cannot happen to stay connected for more than 2 hours. This is NOT a problem with my Internet because my PS3, phone, and my sister's laptop (which has built-in connectivity) all connect fine. I need help on how to keep my D-Link stable on being connected to my network. Once again. i ask that you please reply in dummy-friendly words. Thank you.

What D-Link product and model # are you referring to that seems to be disconnecting?

Have you removed the adapter drivers then re-installed new drivers from D-Links main web site?
Does the adapter work on a different PC as a test?

I am in the US region (Texas). But don't I need to be connected to the Internet in the first place to download the files from this site? (I'm using my phone to post)

Yes your PC needs to be connected to the Internet. Or get the files from a neighbor, friend for family member who can get them for you and put them on a disk or USB flash drive.

Note: I installed the files from the website, and the adapter worked for a few hours, like 2, then it returned to being unresponsive.

Can you test the adapter out on a different PC? AT a friend or families place?

I cannot, I own the only PC in my house.

Ya, the only other way to see if the adapter is bad would be to test at a different location or go out and buy another. If you can find a store with a refund policy, then if your new one does the same thing then you can return it. Possible that the adapter you have now is bad. However it would need to be tested in a different location with a different PC to be sure.

Okay, thank you. Is it possible to call my ISP and order another one strictly for them? Also, if this info is of any use, the bottom tight icon that shows my internet connection keeps switching between "not connected - no connections are available" and "not connected - connections are available". When I try to connect whwn it says it's available, it says that I couldn't connect to D-LINK or something along those lines.

You could buy a new adapter or any model adapter from a local store if they stock them or find adapters at online e-tailers.
