Could we get an updated list of what's being tested?  There are lots of bugs and other than "we are tstill testing" we have no idea _what_ it is is taking so long.  I assume it can't be beta 5 at this point ...

Is the anonymous logon bug being looked at?
I NFS in/out/in again?
What about the uPNP server and Win7?
Maybe a new/cool curve ball like DDNS support (not one of those paid public ones, an internal DDNS for those who want to go crazy with our home networks)?

Just currious what coul be dragging things out like this.

What exactly are you looking for here?

The DNS-323 already supports free DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) services, including DynDNS and one hosted by DLink themselves.

As it turns out, the D-Link DDNS is really using DynDNS, so they're the same service.  The older D-Link routers had this feature, but omitted updating the address at least every 30 days, so your free account would time out.  It appears, though I'm not certain, that the DNS-323 and DNS-321 will actually do the proper updates.  I've switched from the DynDNS client running on this machine to the DNS-323 updater, we'll see if it works. :)

It was last mentioned July 2009, and it is now coming up on November. I am guessing not before 2010, but maybe I will be proven wrong.

Looks like 2010 it is at this point...

Well it seems V8 is out on the UK site.

I installed it, reset to factory defaults, configured my two ST3500320AS drives for RAID1, did a scan disk, and have the following issues:

Volume Name:  Volume_1
Volume Type:  Standard
Total Hard Drive Capacity:  -1 MB
Used Space:  0 KB
Unused Space:  0 MB

Plus can't resolve by device name e.g. \\nas.

... just hard booted and all seems OK.

I'm going to try the process above but with hard boots in between to make sure all is well.
Fills me with confidence. Not.

Tried again and for the second time after running the wizard and chaning the address details I get a popup blocked message. Then I wait and access the new address and login and get a page cannot be displayed message. Then I have no access to the NAS either via it's new IP address or name. Nor by it's old details. 5 minutes later I have access?

After numerous hard boots and resets all seem stable. Not sure if it was the lack of hard boots or the scandisk that caused it.

Well, doing a factory reset after changing the firmware is probably a good idea...

I did the reset from within the web interface. That didn't cure it. Only hard booting did...

I'm surprised they are different functionality...

Think I will be waiting for a few weeks after the release of V8. I am not trusting the quality of dlink code after dealing with the dir655 mess. And it seems every beta release a bunch of new bugs are discovered. I guess we will see.

Someone like me has been waiting for months......
Maybe Dlink doesn't have enough technician to test the release, or these is something wrong with test case/startegy/methdology development? Just personal guess...
