Device Cannot Start
« on: January 12, 2010, 06:48:22 PM »

Hello All,

I'm having some troubles with the installation of my card in the first place. I've inserted the card into a working PCI slot (I've tried others, with the same result) and despite after installing the latest driver (1.60), the card does not work. I receive a message at the end of the driver install saying "Wireless Adapter not found, please insert adapter now". When I look up the device in the Device Manager, it recognizes it as a DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop Adapter, with driver version 7.7.0.371, and informs me (with it's little yellow exclamation mark) that the "device cannot start (code 10)."

I have called DLink support and they got me to download the latest driver, but even after that I got the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem and knows a fix? If my card is faulty I'll take it back to future shop and get another one - hopefully.

Thanks for any help.

edit:
Windows XP SP2
Asus PSK SE Motherboard with an Intel Chipset

If that's any help

Return the card before your window closes on refund.  This card has too many problems.   If your machine has PCIexpress slots, get the DWA-556 instead.
