After replacing my Linksys WRT54GS with the DLINK DGL-4500, I ran a speedtest (using www.speedtest.org) from my deskop PC (wired directly to router). The download and upload speeds were horrendously slow (downloads less than 2.5Mb/s.....uploads less than 0.10Mb/s). Totally unacceptable!!
I disconnected my router and connected my desktop PC directly to the Motorola SB6120 cable modem (Mediacom ISP). I ran another speedtest from my desktop PC (wired directly to cable modem). The download and upload speeds were blazing fast (downloads 20Mb/s - 30Mb/s.....uploads 0.90Mb/s - 1.5Mb/s). Much faster than my ISP (Mediacom) advertises.
I reconnected my router and ran another speedtest from my desktop PC (wired directly to router). The download and upload speeds remained blazing fast (downloads 20Mb/s - 30Mb/s.....uploads 0.90Mb/s - 1.5Mb/s). Still, much faster than my ISP (Mediacom) advertises.
I decided to reboot the router and noticed the download / upload speeds became horrendously slow....AGAIN. I had to repeat the above process in order to get the better (blazing fast) speeds.
I just purchased the router (DLINK DLG-4500) from NewEgg about 10 days ago. The sticker on the box shows H/W Ver.:A2 - F/W Ver.:1.12.
Has anyone experienced this issue?? What could be causing this problem to happen?? Could it be the router?? Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated to resolving this issue.
Thanks for the replies
