Accounts problem
« on: January 15, 2010, 02:34:47 PM »

Hi, I have a DNS-323 with firmware version 1.08.
I have two folders in my disk inside Volume_1.
One is "Programs", the other is "Admin".
What I want to do (and I can't) is to have the folder Programs free access without a password
and the folder Admin with password.
I select All Accounts in Network Access Settings and select the folder "Programs", save the settings
and all the users access to this folder in the network without a password.
The problem is when assign the folder "Admin" to an specific user with a password.
Then nobody can access to the DNS-232 without a password.

Thanks,
Guillermo

It is not possible with this firmware.
You can read it here:

By what I have read if there are no users permissions set than 'ALL' means that anyone can access the shares, but if user permissions are set than 'ALL' means all defined users only can access the shares?

Maybe D-Link can perform some programing magic and have a check box that allows 'ALL' to mean open access or open access restricted to defined users.

This would solve this annoying issue and give the owner of the device control back. As it is I am still on v1.04 and am not upgrading until I have to.   :-\

A number of folks here, including me, would love to see anonymous and protected shares on the same NAS working again. ;)

Thanks for your answers.
I rollback to firmware version 1.06 and everything works fine again.
Also I can access the disk from windows 7 without problems.
