I apologize in advance as I know searching there are several similar posts (of which I've searched and attempted to follow previous fixes). I've had it working in the past but no longer.  I'm on firmware 1.08 and have no trouble mapping it via appletalk. Windows XP is another story. My understanding is that this is usually a windows issue.

When I do net use * \192..... , I get "System error 64 has occurred. The specified network name is no longer available".

I've tried disabling the firewall (Kaspersky). Enabling Netbios specifically in the TCP-IP WINS advanced properties (It was at the default). Using the IP address of the drive in the explorer map network drive which just seemed to hang so apparently never see's the 323.  Any advice ?

Try mapping it to

\\DLINK\Volume_1

Can you ping it by name?

Fixed - Reset the 323 to factory defaults
« Reply #3 on: April 25, 2010, 12:23:34 AM »

Thanks. I did try the first suggestion and I am able to ping it (as well as mount it using appletalk).

I was able to resolve the problem but frustratingly don't know why it wasn't working. My solution involved resetting the dns-323 to factory defaults. I should have backed up /etc/password but it wasn't too much trouble to restore. I setup the share again and was able to mount the drive. Some post suggested resetting to defaults after upgrading firmware.  I'm happy it worked, less happy I don't know why but hopefully this may help someone else.

Resetting to factory defaults seems to be somewhat of a "cure-all" for this box. :)
