WD TV Live
« on: January 18, 2010, 09:10:26 AM »

Anyone had luck networking the DIR-655 with the WD TV Live?  I cannot get the WD to detect my network using ether cable. When I switch out the 655 with a netgear router - no problems. If you got it to work what firmware version are you using ? I've never updated mine (1.04) because up to now I have never had an issue and am not interested in the new features.

I'm using my WD TV Live (last firmware) with my DIR-655 in version 1.32NA without any problem. You should stay to version 1.2x of DIR-655 firmware if you can because many people have problem with 1.3x version.

What kind of problem do you have?

When I do a search for the network, auto and manual, does not locate network. No IP address,DNS etc.
Used different cables, connected into router - no good. USB HD works fine. Have tryed another router and got a connection. Don't want to switch routers have been happy with DLink so far.

Do you use MAC address filtering? If you put a static IP on your WD TV Live, does it work?

When I put a static address, the network check shows OK for IP address but on second step, DNS, I get a red X at that step. I believe I have an issue between my Dir-655 and my DSL Westell 6100. When I bypass the 655 and plug into the modem, network set up no problem.

Have you tried to disable DNS relay in network settings on your router? You'll need to switch back to DHCP and reboot your WD TV Live after this settings been applied. (You'll need to restart other device or make and ipconfig /renew).

I also have a WDTV Live, latest firmware (.17).  My DIR-655 is currently on firmware 1.31NA.

No issues at all obtaining an IP address.  I originally reserved an IP, but recently removed that reservation and still works well.
