In building 1: I have a DIR-615 router attached to a Wildblue modem and hard wired to two computers (xp & vista) and wirelessly with a computer running win7. This router is wired to a Hawking 300N (configured as an AP) which has a 14dbi antenna attached to it. I only see the computers running in building 1 and have access to the internet. I can access the network computers and internet when I am wired into the Hawking 300N at building 1 with the laptop.
Now, move laptop to building 2:
In building 2: I have a Hawking AP/Bridge w/14dbi antenna wired into a laptop running vista. I can see the computers in building 1, but I can't access them and have no internet access. The network center says the path can't be found when I try to open one of the computers.
I am wondering if there is some configuration I am missing in the DLink that is preventing me from accessing the computers from building 2.
All SSID's are the same, they all have the same IP addresses except last three digit extensions (which are in the range of 1-199), WPA is enabled and the same on all parts, DCHP is enabled on the DLink and disabled on the Hawkings,
Does the IP address in the internet configuration need to be the IP address of the wildblue modem or of the computer?
Been working on this for a week and getting pretty frustrated. Any help or ideas would be welcome.
Thanks,
