After purchasing some new wireless cameras and having to upgrade their firmware, I upgraded my 825 to the 1.12NA firmware. Apparently, the watchdog was turned off somewhere in the firmware chain. Whereas before, the router would occasionally reboot on its own, interrupting connectivity every once in a while, it now degrades in performance slowly until it is no longer useable. And now I have to reboot it manually. It's down in the basement, and I'm lazy, but the real problem is that I remote into my home computers from work for various reasons, and when the router locks up, sometimes I can't get in.
Is it possible to access an internal settings function that would allow me to restore the watchdog process? The best thing about this router was that it fixed itself when it ran into a problem, and now it locks up like all the other low-end devices I've owned. The DNS redirection in the new firmware gave me constant interruptions due to using Outlook with RPC over HTTP and having my autoconfigure queries hijacked to untrusted sites, but once I turned off the advanced DNS, it was fine. Now, if I can figure out this lockup issue, I'll be all set.
I'm guessing I'll have to backrev to the original firmware (which gave me no issues) to fix this.
