I have a semi-similar issue.

My laptop has a 5100 AGN card and I seem to only avg around 135mbps to 162mbps on the Wireless Network Connection Status. Sometimes I get lucky and it jumps up to 216mbps. I am confused because I can't seem to get it to hit or stay around 300mbps.
