D-Link DIR 628 Routing Problems
« on: August 30, 2009, 02:31:50 PM »

I have just purchased a new AMD 940 Quad Core 64-bit desktop.  The OS is Microsoft XP pro, sp2, 64-bit.

I have also purchased a new D-Link DIR 628 router to connect my older computer, a V2 Premier which has XP Home Edition, sp3, 32-bit.

In addition, I have a Dell Demension 5150 running XP pro, sp3, 32-bit.

When I try to connect these to the router a series of problems occurs.

1) My connection with my new computer, the primary computer, which is connected via ethernet to port "LAN 1" , is working great, but my Outlook Express doesn't receive the same emails as my V2 Premier's Outlook Express and visa/versa.  Example:  My V2 Premier's Outlook Express received D-Link's "Welcome to D-Link Forums" email, but my AMD's Outlook Express did not.

2) My V2 Premier, which is connected via ethernet to LAN 2 has to constantly re-register through D-Links securespot 2.0. due to an Access Control Alert:New Computer Detected.

3) My Dell Demension 5150, which is connected wirelessly, receives a," Invalid argument. One or more MAC Addresses were not found or are invalid." through D-Link's securespot 2.0

I am using WPA2.

I had the same exact problem tonight.  Found that my router's time and date were both off (in fact, for a future time).  Not only did I use a Router RESTORE, then reloaded my saved settings, I went to the bottom of the TIME page under TOOLS and used the "copy your computer's time settings" feature, then saved it.  After that, everything worked!

You need to make changes on both Outlook Express settings.  By default, Outlook Express will remove the emails from the server when you are using SMTP/POP3 email server.  You need to adjust the "advanced" setttings of your account so as to "Leave email on server..."
