New setup, volume missing (solved)
« on: February 07, 2010, 01:21:52 PM »

*Edit*  Please disregard,  shutting down and restarting the dns-323 again caused the volume to appear.  Sorry for jumping the gun, I'll leave this here in case anyone else has the same issue.

I just picked up a dns-323 and I set it up with a brand new 500gb Seagate drive (ST3500641AS).  The Easy Search Utility found it, I ran the config and it seemed to format fine.

But I'm having trouble accessing the drive and setting up drive mapping.  No volume name shows up in the mapping section of the Utility, and when I press 'Connect' it says "Please select a device in the above section.".  I tried searching the dlink support and this forum for this issue, didn't see anything.

I'm using WinXP and I can access the device by going to \\<ip address> in explorer.  The only things that show up are a usb printer icon ("lp"), a "web_page" folder, and a "Printers and faxes" icon.  I'm guessing I should see my volume there?  I checked the firmware and it's 1.07.

thanks for any help

Has this happened since...I have a single Seagate dive (the other is WD) and the Seagate ST31500341AS seems to drop out periodically...
