Gaming consoles steal all bandwidth on wifi
« on: April 10, 2010, 08:10:44 PM »

Hi all.  This problem has been extremely frustrating for me as I have spent maybe 5+ hours trying to fix it and I bought this router 2 days ago.  My problem is that my wireless connection on my laptop(draft1 N) is extremely unstable when my ps3 or xbox connects wirelessly.  It steals ALL the bandwidth and the internet on my laptop "turns off and on" about every 10 seconds.  When everything is on LAN, it works fine though.  I've disabled/enabled almost every setting and resetted my router twice.  WISH and QoS are currently turned off, but I want to be able to use those features. Everything is on my desk, within a 2 feet radius of the router.

Here is an example log of my wifi

Sent :1287153
TX Packets Dropped :5169
Received :660742
RX Packets Dropped :5609
Errors :1674

Wifi is also slower in general vs LAN when accessing sites, etc.  My H/W vers is A4 w/ 1.33NA.  I don't know what to do, should I return it? Can you give me some settings to try, because I am out of ideas.

You need to setup QoS so the laptop has a higher priority then the consoles.
