Port Forwarding Dgl-4500
« on: April 30, 2010, 11:40:09 PM »

i have been having issues with port forwarding i have 2 Dlink dns-323's and i opened port 1025 and 1050 and they were working fine for a while then i got a surveillance system and i opened port 85 to view the cameras remotely and then my router started resetting itself over and over.  The only way to get the router to stop is to reset it to default.  i have set the ip addresses to static and done all i can do with tech support they say it might be a firmware problem but now i have got a netgear wndr3700 and i can only get port 21 to show me one of the dns-323's i opened port 1025 and went to canyouseeme.org and it said sucess but when i typed in my ip address and this is a fake ftp://72.178.89.224:1025 i got cannot display web page with the new netgear router.  Dlink sent me another brand new router and 2 Brand new dns-323's as i am sending back the ones i got from the store back to them.  Does anyone have advice on this matter.  i used to be able to see both dns-323's before i opened port 85 and now the router resets when i open 2 ports when it shouldnt.  i of course have the latest firmware no thanks to dlink support thats always the first thing they all (netgear and dlink) do first is upgrade fw.  any Advice or help would be appriciated im frustrated and at wits end about how to fix this issue.

Must you use port 85? Sounds to me like you're getting burned by the router's stateful packet inspection, possibly a bug.  Turn off SPI on the router's Advanced->Firewall page.  If this helps, moving the device to another port may or may not get around the problem.

Thanks for the Reply i have the issue long before i can open port 85, i really would be satisfied with just 2 ports for the dns-323 if i open the ports on the dir-855 now i cannot see the ftp site at all so dlink told me to again call monday and talk to lvl 3 tech support  :(

So did you try turning off SPI to see if the problem goes away?
