I am being offered a good deal on several DWL7100AP boxes. But reading the manual I am not sure they will do quite what I need.
Box 1:
Attached to Switch-attached to Cable-Modem.
MAC: 11:11:11:11:11:11
Set 802.11a to WDS-with-AP mode
802.11a MAC List: 22:22:22:22:22:22 & 33:33:33:33:33:33
Set 802.11g to AP mode (or disabled, doesn't matter)
Box 2:
MAC: 22:22:22:22:22:22
Set 802.11a to WDS mode
802.11a MAC List: 11:11:11:11:11:11
set 802.11g to AP mode
802.11g MAC List includes wireless PC clients connecting to this AP
There is no LAN connected.
Set Internal Station Connection to Enabled
Box 3:
MAC: 33:33:33:33:33:33
Set 802.11a to WDS mode
802.11a MAC List: 11:11:11:11:11:11
set 802.11g to AP mode
802.11g MAC List includes wireless PC clients connecting to this AP
There is no LAN connected.
Set Internal Station Connection to Enabled
Does this allow Box 2 and 3 to act as "repeaters" with the internet link on the 802.11a and the client distribution on 802.11g? I'm trying to use the 802.11a as a WDS, and the 802.11g as the remoted APs for my wireless laptops and desktops. I'm trying to avoid the bandwidth dividing effects of doing a single band AP repeater.
Am I on the right track?
Thanks,
Tim
